Purpose of Program

The Academic Support Program (ASP) provides assistance/accommodations to meet the learning needs of exceptional students.  The goal of this support is to equip the student to achieve his/her full potential in a regular classroom environment.

Level 1 Accommodations
Based on individual needs, academic support services may include:

  • Coordinate reviews and updates of IEP
  • Create and implement Student Accommodation Plan (SAP)
  • Implement and monitor SAP
  • Facilitate collaboration of teachers, families and support staff
  • Coordinate accommodations (e.g. test readers, alternate testing environment, lecture notes, etc)
  • Provide advocacy & progress reports as needed

Level 2 Coaching
Based on individual needs, academic support services may include:

  • Coordinate reviews and updates of IEP
  • Create and implement Student Accommodation Plan (SAP)
  • Implement and monitor SAP
  • Collaboration between teacher(s), parents, and ASP staff
  • Coordinate student accommodations (e.g. test readers, alternate testing environment, lecture notes, etc)
  • Provide advocacy & progress reports as needed
  • Pull-out intervention to support growth in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Coaching in study skills, organization, and test preparation

Level 3 Modifications
Based on individual needs, academic support services may include:

  • Coordinate reviews and updates of IEP
  • Create and implement Student Accommodation Plan (SAP)
  • Implement and monitor SAP
  • Collaboration between teacher(s), parents, and ASP staff
  • Coordinate student accommodations (e.g.  test readers, alternate testing environment, lecture notes, etc)
  • Provide advocacy & progress reports as needed
  • Pull-out intervention to support growth in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Coaching in study skills, organization, and test preparation
  • Modify curriculum for some subjects, based on student needs

Independent Tutoring
Based on individual needs, academic support services may include:

  • Help arrange for one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions
  • Background checks for school-approved tutors
  • Serve as liaison between tutors and families
