College Prep/Guidance

From the Desk of Counselor Margaret Singleton

At UC Academy Since: 2009
Highest Degree: M.S. in Counseling
Credential(s): Lifetime Designated Subject in Computer Science

My goal is to help prepare our students to be strong candidates for the colleges and universities of their choice. I am available to meet with all students on an individual basis and I schedule personal meetings with all seniors and juniors to check on their progress in getting ready for college admissions. We emphasize the total person being well rounded with spiritual soundness, academic achievement, social interaction, and extracurricular activities.

I monitor each student’s progress toward graduation and make sure they are on track to graduate, meeting all UC entrance requirements and taking the most rigorous course of study possible. If a student chooses not to take an elective required for UC entrance, I contact the parents and make sure the student is still on track to enter the college of choice.

I am also happy to talk with parents.  I provide two specific information seminars for parents and students.  In October we offer “Creating a 4-Year Plan” and in December we have a seminar on Financial Aid and searching for scholarships.

I keep all students advised of the SAT registration dates and coordinate PSAT and AP testing on our campus.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding planning for your student’s college education.

Many blessings,
