College Fairs are a perfect opportunity for you to visit with college representatives, ask questions and pick up college information. These fairs are typically held in the fall at area high schools. In addition to looking on the web, keep an eye open to the “Counselor’s Corner” e-mails for more information about upcoming college fairs.
Fall and spring are prime times for students and parents to explore colleges. Many colleges offer visitation days and/or weekends for prospective students to “try out” a campus. The admission staff plans activities for students, including attending events and classes, setting up campus tours, and organizing financial aid meetings or seminars. It is a great benefit to see a college alive with students and activities to determine if it is a good fit for you.
Many colleges offer summer programs on their campuses for high school juniors. These opportunities provide experience at the college while living there, attending classes and interacting with professors. It is beneficial for students to take advantage of these offerings and to possibly earn early college credit.
