High School

from the desk of Principal Solis

Welcome to Upland Christian Academy High School! I have had the privilege of serving at UC Academy since 1996, becoming the high school principal in 2006. Before coming to UC Academy I was a public high school teacher, with two professional clear single subject credentials. I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership at Azusa Pacific University. It is a joy to work with our students and faculty to create an exciting learning community that strives to glorify God in all we do--in the classroom and in our community. I love working with high school students as they transition into young adulthood, discovering and honing the talents God has given them. In our high school we do not believe it is our job to hide and protect our students from the world, rather it is our mission to prepare and equip leaders to change the world.

Our high school curriculum prepares our students to be successful in universities and colleges across the country. Our graduation requirements meet the University of California's "a to g" requirements, our school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and our Advanced Placement courses have been approved by the College Board audit process as providing the necessary rigor of college coursework. Our College Guidance Counselor works with our students and parents to help them in the college planning and admissions process. Our alumni come back to visit often and tell us they were well prepared for the rigors of college education.

A distinctive quality in UC Academy High School is our strong sense of community – between students, teachers, and parents. We work to build a community of intentional significance, believing God has called each person to fulfill a unique purpose. Not only do our teachers care for each individual student, but our students also take ownership in building our school culture, one in which every student is valued and encouraged to strive for excellence. We build community through many activities and programs, including our all high school retreat, weekly chapels, Alpha groups to keep students connected, small group Bible studies and discipleship groups, athletics, and community service projects. Our students take ownership of the school community, and through that ownership they develop trust, leadership skills, and a passion for service. Upland Christian Academy High School is a wonderful opportunity for your student to flourish and learn. I want to invite you to visit our campus and experience our community first hand. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to visit or have any questions about our school.

Many blessings,

Tamara Solis
