High School
Welcome to Upland Christian Academy High School! I am excited about serving here as your new principal. Prior to this year, I taught at one of the largest missionary kids’ schools for 12 years--, Faith Academy in the Philippines. In over 30 years as an educator, I’ve been a teacher, administrator, curriculum coordinator, college professor, Boy Scout Scoutmaster, and mentor teacher. God has called me to help youth experience the joys and responsibilities involved in becoming educated, and it is a special joy to help their faith in Christ grow as they learn about His world and sense His calling for them.
The mission of our school is, “To educate students by integrating academic excellence with a Christian worldview, equipping them to impact their world for Christ.” Our academic excellence is demonstrated in our graduation requirements, which meet the University of California's "a to g" requirements. Our school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and our Advanced Placement courses have been approved by the College Board audit process as providing the necessary rigor of college coursework. Equipping students with critical thinking and study skills not only helps them to learn more in high school, but enables them to enjoy more success in college and future careers.
A distinctive quality in UC Academy High School is our strong sense of community – between students, teachers, and parents. We work to build a community of intentional significance, believing God has called each person to fulfill a unique purpose. Not only do our teachers care for each individual student, but our students also take ownership in building our school culture, one in which every student is valued and encouraged to strive for excellence. We build community through many activities and programs, including our all high school retreat, weekly chapels, Alpha groups to keep students connected, small group Bible studies and discipleship groups, athletics, and meaningful community service projects.
Our students see our school as a member of our wider community, and through active involvement they develop trust, leadership skills, and a passion for service. We encourage our students to “Think globally, act locally” during all four years of high school, so that by the time they have finished their senior year, they have the knowledge and experiences to be “launched” into a future that can impact the world for Christ. Upland Christian Academy High School is a wonderful opportunity for your student to flourish and learn. I want to invite you to visit our campus and experience our community first hand. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to visit or have any questions about our school.
